My “New” Favorite Cookbook!

Hello my BEAUTIFUL blog family! How are you? I hope just great! I have another favorite cookbook that I would like to share with you. Here it is..

Picture 356

Everyday Happy Herbivore by Lindsay S. Nixon. I super LOVE this book! Why? Well duh! All the recipes are 30 minutes or less! That’s right! 30 minute great vegan recipes! Now if you remember a couple of months ago where I had her other book,”The Happy Herbivore Abroad.” That book was a cookbook of recipes from around the world and I did a review on that one. This book (to me) beat that one! Especially for people like me who work various hours of the day and evening. This is the “BIZZNESS!” (excuse the slang)LMBO!

I don’t know if you remember or not from my other blog, but ANY cookbook with full-color pictures along with the instructions has my heart! This author knows how to cook VEGAN and I LOVE it!!!!!

I don’t want to start spitting out recipes and take away from her book selling, but I made a “Greens Quiche” from her book and it was a big hit here in my house! This is what it looked like in the book..

these are the ingredients..

I used Turnip Greens in mine…

I also changed an ingredient, instead of nutritional yeast, I used mozerella daiya. It was soooo good! Like I said, this was a BIG hit at my house!

If you happen to purchase this book, or already have it, tell us your favorite recipe! What did you like about this book?

Slushies & Smoothies-Yummm!

Hello my beautiful blog family! I hope all is well with each and every one of you! Today when I turned on my laptop to blog I had a note from WordPress! What did it say? It said “Happy Anniversary” it was a year ago that I started my First Blog! 🙂 Yeaaaaa Meeeee! I would like to say “THANK-YOU” so much to WordPress AND my beautiful blog family for staying with me through the year! Thank-you!

Now WHO has been making more smoothies and slushies in 2013, raise your hand! My hand is raised high! I LOVE making these things for breakfast in the morning before I leave, and one with my dinner or dessert in the evening! I usually make a fruit & veggie one in the morning and an all fruit one at night. Yes, I KNOW it should be the other way around because the fruit could/will keep you up, but my sweet-tooth is after dinner and I want that fruity taste at night. Maybe one day I will switch it, but for now, I like the fruit at night and chase it with a large cup of water before I go to bed.

So you say you want me to share a recipe with you huh? OK! I made this one tonight. It is super simple, sweet, and fruity!

A handful of frozen strawberries,
A handful of frozen mangoes,
A handful of frozen dark cherries,
2 cups of filtered cold water,
and a squirt of light agave.

Blend well and viola! A cold, fruity, yummy slushy! Do you have any recipes that you would like to share? Go ahead! Please leave it down below! This is Naturaleehappee of saying: Veggies 4 EVR! 😉

My own recipe! Vegan Chocolate-Peanut Butter Cookies

Hello my beautiful blog family! How have you all been doing lately? I would LOVE to hear from you and see how my favorite people have been getting along this year. Me? Well, I have started a new job. Well, it’s the same genre but a different category! Lmbo! I am still doing hair, but I have accepted a job at a “mostly hair cutting” place. I cannot disclose where, but I can say that it will only increase my skills to the fullest! For that, I am truly blessed!

Now for the good stuff!

I am really enjoying being Vegan and “getting the funny looks”. I don’t care one bit! I totally cook from my STACK of cookbooks now. I pick a book, and pick a recipe that I feel like making for the day. Well…

today I made something on my own! I took a recipe that I had made on a prior occasion, and “tweaked” it according to what I like! Here it is!

You will need to:
Pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees on a standard oven.

1 and a half cups of white wheat flour
3 Tablespoons of reduced fat peanut butter
one fourth cup of vegetable oil
a half cup of raw sugar
1 tsp. of vanilla
a half cup of powdered cocoa
add some rice milk to soften and make sticky

You will mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Add rice milk little by little until you get a batter that is moist. It should only be enough milk to keep it from looking “dry” and to stick together.
After you mix together, reach in and take a tablespoon at a time and form a ball with your hands. Once you have made the bowl to your preferred size, place on a un-greased cookie sheet. It is OK to flatten the ball slightly at the top to make more of a “cookie” appearance. Let the cookies bake for about 10-12 minutes and then let cool for 1 minute. Use a spatula to take off of the cookie sheet, and enjoy warm!

My cookies were kind of big so it made about 10! I hope you all enjoy the recipe! Let me know what you think! Until next time, this is Naturaleehappee saying Veggies 4 EVR! 😉

My Cuisinart Juicer Review(and why I took it back)

Hello my beautiful blog family! I hope you all are doing well on this cloudy day. It’s always dreary here so I shouldn’t say that.Lol.

I am going to review MY experience with the Cuisinart CJE-500 juicer.

This juicer had more pros than cons! As a matter of fact, I could not find anything bad about it!
It was a nice size and fit on my counter top without cluttering it. It had a wide opening for me to put in my fruits AND veggies. It was quiet! Yes QUIET!! It did not make any loud sounds not even when I added my celery and carrots! As a matter of fact, the sound it made, was more like a “whirring” sound. You know, the sound of a mini vac? Yea. That sound. This machine was easy to take apart for cleaning and easy to put back together. The chute in the back caught all the pulp and stuff with no problem. It even had recipes in the back of the instruction book! So why did I take it back?

Don’t get me wrong, the juice was AMAZING! I loved the fact that I could finally drink a smooth drink instead of my sometimes chunky smoothies that I made with my Ninja! I took it back because of my own personal preferences! Yep, that’s right! Call me “old fashioned” or whatever but when I saw how much food,(and pulp)I was using to make ONE glass of juice,I thought it was ridiculous! Now, maybe if this house was of one person, or it was a house of 2 then using THAT MUCH food would be good, but this is not that house. This is a house of mom and teenagers and that was just too much for me to have a “nice juice”.

So, all in all I would say that if you are tight on money and don’t want to buy the $400.00 dollar juicer, you should look into getting this $100. Cuisinart CJE-500. Have your fridge stocked and ready! The juice is healthy and worth the money. The juicer is a great buy for your money, I just couldn’t deal with all the food that could have been eaten! 😉

I’m like Waldo! I was missing!

Hello my BEAUTIFUL blog family! How have you all been doing? I hope each and every one of you have been happy and healthy. I have been so busy that I needed to re-group and re-organize!

I started with my room! Yes, my room was starting to look like a scene of hoarders and that is not me AT ALL!!! I went to the local stores in my area and got storage dressers, labels, envelopes, and even one of those cheap storage/footstools! My room is now someplace that I am happy to be in. I re-arranged the furniture, brought lamps for my side tables, and moved my computer desk so that I see more light in the daytime!(Yes, my laptop is in my room.)Lol!

Next, I re-organized my YouTube channels! Sure did! My first channel(suitelady90) is now a channel that I am dedicating to those of us who like to craft, make jewelry, and read books! I hope it works out! I will also be showcasing what I have on my Storenvy site on that channel as well!

My second YouTube channel(naturaleehappee) is now a channel dedicated to the natural and healthy hair tutorials. I have coincided that channel with my other blog here on WordPress-naturaleehappeehair. The blog will be for further tips, pictures, and Q&A if anyone has any for this licensed Cosmetologist. My channel will also talk about fitness every now and then for those interested.

Now for THIS blog? I am going to keep this one with my Vegan ideas, recipes, drinks, secret shopper, etc. This is my baby! My very first blog, so I have to keep this one to talk about whatever!(Much like my Twitter)LMBO!

I can also be found at Pinterest! My boards are of photography, holistic health, hair, makeup, all things vegan, handmade jewelry, and DIY. You know the name-Naturaleehappee.

So you see, I am everywhere and nowhere! I can be found but only if you know where to look. I will do better at making sure ALL of my sources stay up to date. I hope to see you all on my other venues! Veggies4Evr! 😉
